Renewable Energy
There is an urgent need to find renewable sources of energy, but this can conflict with the significance of a heritage site. By carrying out statements of significance, we can start the process of identifying innovative ways of using renewable energy sources such as air and ground source heat pumps, solar and PV panels and wind energy, without loss of significance. We have developed techniques for minimising the impact of panels and heat pumps and can help to site wind turbines where they are least likely to have an adverse impact on the local historic interest. We can also advise on the traditional techniques of conserving energy without recourse to inappropriate modern materials such as PVC. This is particularly important for historic buildings which are listed or in conservation areas or national parks.
